Ignorance We live behind veils woven from vanity and greed, As we peer through to a world misconceived, Blind to the bitter reality of society, Ignorant to suffering, we make ourselves the priority, We cover our ears, oblivious to the pleas, The desperate prayers of those on their knees, Instead we wash our hands from those who appeal, In holy water polluted with the blood who kneel. Cover the eyes of the children who see, Avert them away from those who'll never be free, Confine them within walls of false security, Protect them misshapen thoughts of impurity, So we smile behind our veils and forget what we've done, The afflictions we serve upon those that we shun, The people who beg for comfort and kindness, As we corrupt the world behind with greed and blindness.
